Page 2 of 4 I placed my order for this buggy in June of 2005. I anxiously waited for it to arrive here in the USA from it's overseas manufacturering facility. There were many delays from transport issues to redesign holding up the initial shipments. Finally, after the wait, I received my buggy in November of 2006. The initial impression was that the appearance was different then what I initially expected. Pictures of the prototype had a sleek roof line that made the buggy look much faster and more clean. The rear shocks appeared to be closer in, and the buggy had a narrower appearance as well. The actual production model was somewhat different looking and did not look like what I thought I was getting. After careful review of the buggy in person I decided to go ahead and take delivery based on the fact that the machine appeared well made and quite honestly, it was intimidating!
The engine used in this kart appears to be of high quality. It has a heavy growl and definitely sounds like an ATV as opposed to a typical go kart. The power for this size of kart is sufficient and provides a small thrust off the line. Carter Brothers stands strongly behind the technology in this new SYM engine and offers a 2 year standard warranty on it's components. This is beyond what any other import buggy manufacturer is doing at this time. The engine sips fuel from a huge 4 gallon gasoline tank which provides hours of driving enjoyment. The engine puts it power to the ground with a low ratio aluminum 54 tooth 520 sprocket giving the kart a final ratio that has been designed for climbing. Carter intends to offer two other gearing options for the counter shaft sprocket for better climbing and more top speed. With the current factory gearing my GTR250 will top out at 40MPH after break in and will climb almost every hill I’ve approached. It has been reported to myself by a Carter Brothers dealer, and confirmed through R&D, that a counter shaft sprocket from a Honda XR 250 will work. This should make gearing the GTR250 quite simple and should accommodate almost everyone’s driving styles. The passenger’s compartment has room for two adults. Getting in and out is a little on the tight side for larger people due to the arm guard being as high as it is. The high arm guard is an acceptable trade off as it gives a sense of security. The seating is plush and contoured. The seat belts are nylon webbed and are of substantial thickness. In my opinion, the seat belts are of far better quality then what I have seen from TJ Powersports, Roketa or Other Carter Brothers products.
